“I am very pleased to support the wonderful work of Children and War UK. Vulnerable children need the help and hope that they bring.”

Lydia Bauman

Artist and supporter of CAW UK

Friends and supporters of Children and War UK are warmly invited to join us for a very special evening reception and private view of Homelands, an exhibition of vibrant landscape paintings by Lydia Bauman on 16 May. The artist herself will give a tour of the work and be available to meet during a wine and canape reception. Proceeds from this London event will go towards our life-changing work.

Lydia is a Polish-born artist and art historian based in London. Her paintings aim to evoke the spirit and fragility of places, portraying what is still beautiful and timeless about our surroundings. To convey a vivid sense of being there, they are created in unconventional materials including beeswax, sand, gold leaf and plaster. The works in this show are all on sale. Her corporate collectors include Deutsche Bank, Saatchi & Saatchi, United Airlines, State Street Bank, Warner Bros, Gordon Ramsey and the Dorchester Hotel, among others.

Lydia said: “As someone who was exiled from their own homeland as a child of 12, I am very pleased to support the wonderful work of Children and War UK. Vulnerable children need the help and hope that they bring.”

This special event is on 16 May 2024 at 5.30-7pm, at The Street Gallery, University College Hospital, 235 Euston Road, London. Entry is by a suggested donation of £25 to Children and War UK (see below) and 10% of the artist’s revenue from the first painting sold will be donated to CAW-UK too.

The exhibition is part of UCLH’s arts programme. Established in 2005, UCLH Arts and Heritage is committed to providing a welcoming, uplifting environment for patients, visitors and staff and has developed into an award-winning programme that delivers improved patient and staff outcomes through the arts.

Entry to the event is by making a donation in advance on our JustGiving page. The suggested donation is £25, but please give what you can, whether less or – ideally – more.

What we do makes a difference

Now more than ever, children need help to cope with the trauma they're experiencing.

Children and War UK is working to give them essential tools to reduce the long-term effects of traumatic stress.

Thank you.
