Friends and supporters of Children and War UK enjoyed a very special evening reception and exhibition viewing at University College Hospital’s Street Gallery on 16 May, which raised over £2,500 for our work.
Guests were treated to a private tour of the exhibition Homelands by artist Lydia Bauman, as well as a wine and canape reception. Proceeds were raised from donations – which can still be made using the button below.
Lydia is a Polish-born artist and art historian based in London. Her vibrant landscape paintings evoke the spirit and fragility of places, portraying what is still beautiful and timeless about our surroundings. To convey a vivid sense of being there, they are created in unconventional materials including beeswax, sand, gold leaf and plaster. Her corporate collectors include Deutsche Bank, Saatchi & Saatchi, United Airlines, State Street Bank, Warner Bros, Gordon Ramsey and the Dorchester Hotel, among others.
Lydia said: “As someone who was exiled from their own homeland as a child of 12, I am very pleased to support the wonderful work of Children and War UK. Vulnerable children need the help and hope that they bring.”
The exhibition was part of UCLH’s arts programme. Established in 2005, UCLH Arts and Heritage is committed to providing a welcoming, uplifting environment for patients, visitors and staff and has developed into an award-winning programme that delivers improved patient and staff outcomes through the arts.
Entry to the event was by making a donation in advance on our JustGiving page. The suggested donation was £25, but many gave more.
