Anna, Mia, Ben, Kalea and Andrew are running The Royal Parks Half Marathon
to raise money for Children And War UK, via their JustGiving pages.

The Royal Parks Half Marathon is London’s original half marathon, run on closed roads through four of the eight Royal Parks.

Please visit our runner’s JustGiving pages and donate as much as you can. We want to help lots of children by training more people to run our Teaching Recovery Techniques (TRT) groups in Ukraine, Turkey, Eire, Uk and worldwide.

Thank you!

Hi, my name is Kalea and I’m a member of Imperial College London’s  Cross Country Club, and also train with TVH (Thames Valley Harriers).

This year I’m running the Royal Parks Half Marathon raising money for an amazing charity, the Children and War Foundation, who help children affected by war and natural disasters to recover from the psychological trauma caused.

It really is a worthy cause, so any support for my half-marathon and this charity will be greatly appreciated forever 🙂

Kalea Booth

I am running the 2023 Royal Parks Half Marathon and raising money for a Children and War (UK).

They work to help children recover from trauma resulting from war, conflict, disaster and other catastrophic events.  Please support me by donating to this brilliant cause.

Andrew Wood

I’m raising money for Children and War (UK). It’s a non-profit organisation dedicated to improving children’s lives after wars and disasters. The Foundation has developed interventions which enable large groups of children to be reached after wars and disasters, and children at high risk to be identified quickly after a traumatic event.

I have a brilliant work colleague Tammy and her mum Helen is the leading light in fundraising efforts here in the UK. I really appreciate your support.

Ben Gale

Mia and I are running the Royal Parks half marathon in October in support of Children and War (UK). I was introduced to the charity, and the great work they do for children affected by the traumas of war and natural disasters, after speaking to my brother-in-law’s parents, Helen Likierman and Julian Hale, over the Christmas dinner table.

I have since run two half marathons this year (Cambridge and Hackney) and raised over £1600. I am excited for Mia to join me this time round so we can make an even bigger difference to this wonderful charity centred around children.

So What Does Children and War UK do?

💜 Train Local Adults in Trauma Recovery Techniques for Children, where access to clinical psychologists is limited.

💜 Help Children in Groups who find themselves adrift from the lives they once knew from many countries including: Nepal, Pakistan, Palestine, Syria and Ukraine.

💜 The Children learn ways to cope with the traumas they experienced and ongoing difficulties, such as losing parents or family member, or a home.

💜 The Trained Adults can cascade the training to other adults in the community, so many children can be reached as early as possible.

💜 Training is offered In-Person and now through On-Line Video Conferencing.

You can read more about Children and War UK on their website by clicking the link above.

How will your Donation make an impact?

Early in May 2022, UNHCR (the UN High Commissioner for Refugees) reported: ‘In the 10 weeks since the Russian invasion, a third of Ukrainians have been forced from their homes, […] more than 5.7 million refugees have fled Ukraine. A further 7.7 million have been displaced within Ukraine.’

For children affected by events in Ukraine, Children and War is working with our colleagues in Lviv to extend training and support to child mental health workers in our techniques. We use video conferencing to run training sessions with people in Poland and Estonia. And in the UK, we’re working with Ukrainian colleagues to support displaced Ukrainian children.

Thanks for taking the time to visit our page and reading about the charity.

Now more than ever, children need help to cope with the trauma they're experiencing.
